Tuesdays...

There's something about Tuesdays. They always end up filled with stuff, and often, I don't even have time to blog. Weird.

My 'normal' Tuesday has yoga and volunteering in E's classroom. Every couple of months, I also have a PTA meeting on Tuesday morning. This morning, my FIL needed an MRI. I think he's probably getting better, but when everyone told him that if he was still in pain in a few days he should see someone, that's what he did.

He had to take some strong pain meds because laying flat on his back is very painful right now -- so he needed a driver. It wasn't that challenging for me. I sat and read a book while he was in the machine. Then I took him to the store (he rode one of those motorized carts), and then I took him back to his house. All told, it was about three hours -- and although I missed yoga and E's class, it was not a problem for me to do.

My FIL is very independent, and I think it surprised him that DH and I told him we had this covered. We don't live close (about 30 minutes away -- all highway), and he usually assumes he'll handle everything by himself. My dad is the same way, and I wonder how that will go when they're both 20 years older...it'll be hard for both of them to lose any of that freedom and autonomy.

How about you? Do you have a day of the week that always seems to fill up more than the others?

Monday, definitely! The house is a disaster after everyone being home for the weekend, the kids have razed the pantry and there's no food left (no matter how much I may have bought before the weekend) and there are piles of laundry. Once I have Monday behind me, the rest of the week feels easy in comparison.

Okay, that does sound fairly traumatic. I'm glad you get it over with first thing, though! :)

Your FIL is lucky to have you, Robin :)
For me, the day that gets filled to capacity is definitely Monday. Ugh! Glad it only comes by once a week ;)

At least you get it over with right off the bat, no? :)

Sorry to hear about your FIL, but good that you live close enough to help. My days depend on how many activities the kids have on that day, which varies. Mondays are suprisingly easy though!

My Mondays also tend to be easy. We clean over the weekend, so that's done -- and because my work week runs from Weds to Weds, Mondays are more relaxed there too -- so I get that!

It's so good that you are able to drive your FIL. My parents are the set we have left and they're in their 80s, so we're at the point of wondering how we'll deal and how they will deal when they can no longer drive to the doctor's. I'm an hour and 15 minutes away and my sister is 30 minutes, but it's still tricky for her, so it's going to be a tough decision all around.

I definitely have a day of the week that fills up, almost deliberately so. Thursdays: Rotary; an hour at the coffee shop that is my sanity break or catch-up time, depending on which I need more; yoga; any errands between the yoga center and home; writing my weekly news column for the local paper. That's also the day I read to a 1st grade class once a month, or when I schedule anything like doctors appointments where possible. If I fill up Thursday, it means more unbroken chunks of time on other days.

Yes, that's exactly how I approach Tuesdays! Both kids have class after school too (and D has either b-ball practice or a game on Tuesday evenings), so since I know the day is shot, I cram in as much stuff as I can ;)

It's tough as our parents get to that point. We're actually very fortunate that none of our parents are truly there -- this week was a fluke (we hope). My dad is the oldest, but he'll only be 69 in a couple weeks, and they're all very healthy. But it certainly gives us something to think about as they age...good luck with your decisions!

I hope your FIL feels better soon. I'm sure he appreciated that you took the time to help him out.
Friday seems to be the day that gets stuffed full for me.

Oh, that's rough. Is it easier or harder that it's at the end of the week?

Yesterday was killer. Driving, driving, and more driving. Yuck.

Here's hoping we both have a calmer Wednesday.

I just came inside after hooping on my patio. Figured I'd better get it while it's good!

How about you? Did you get outside?
