Brief randomness...

...I went hiking yesterday with a couple of other moms (one I hadn't officially met before). We went on a local trail (which, since we live right near the foothills, went back into them nicely), and we loved the aspens which still had leaves (although many of their leaves were coating the trail). It was very pretty, the weather was just about perfect (a hint of coolness), and the conversation was just strenuous enough to distract us from the loooong hike (about 3 hours). My hip was aching a bit by the end, but this morning, it feels pretty good. :)

...I tried the Sleepy Time Tea last night, and whether it was that or my overall exhaustion, I slept better than I have in a long time. I did wake up at 5:15-ish (and it took me a few minutes to get back to sleep), but I haven't slept 6 hours without waking since the carefree nights of summer, so I feel remarkably good today (especially considering how much of a sleep deficit I've built up).

...I have a meeting this morning, and I'm contemplating how I can get out of the last half to make it to yoga...we'll see if I can manage it ;) If not, I'll just have to do some yoga on my own!

Happy Tuesday -- anything fun planned for today? :)

A 3 hour hike is a good remedy for sleepless nights ;o)

Fun? Watching Chopped will be the highpoint.

Reading "The Burning Land" by Bernard Cornwell .. an historical novel taking place in England around 900AD. Bernie writes a good tale and by coincidence lives on Cape Cod. A nice change from my mystery addiction.

That sounds interesting (but I couldn't tell if there would be any romance...and I must admit that I don't really read novels which have no romantic aspects). You'll have to let me know ;)

No loving ... but a great massacre of the Danish warriors led by Harold Bloodhair and the English troops of King Alfred led by Lord Ulhug. Tough crowd in the 800's ;o)

Yay for sleep!!! I'm glad you were able to get some rest! I hope your meeting goes well and that you'll make it to yoga.

I'm not planning anything fun today. Taking JR to the doctor later this morning--and then I'm not sure what I'll do with the rest of the day. I suppose it depends on what the sick kids will LET me do. ;-)

Hope JR is feeling better! (I had to do yoga on my own, but at least I did something, no?) :)

Yeah, it was long...hopefully, tonight will also go well, even though I only had a long meeting rather than a long walk, hehe.

We don't really have anywhere to hike around here. Boo on that. Good to hear you enjoyed yourself!

Yeah, I'd have a hard time without that. When we were first married, we lived much further from any hiking possibilities, so I remember how frustrating it was. But we moved out here in part because we wanted to be closer to the foothills and hiking...
