Five on Friday...

1. I'm reading another good book (so far), and that always puts me in a good mood. :) Plus, I'm very excited about some books which are coming out in the next few months -- Rae Carson's Bitter Kingdom, Ally Carter's United We Spy, and Veronica Roth's Allegiant. I'm thinking of being bad and buying all of them...usually I'll simply request them from the library and wait, but I'm not sure I can (heh). Maybe it'll be my b-day present to myself (Carter's book is coming out in September). Are there any upcoming books that you're especially anticipating?

2. That said, my TBR pile is tottering, and I really need to get through the books I have. I wish I could set everything else aside (including motherhood, ha) and just read, read, read. Alas, that's not the way of life ;) And, I suppose, I wouldn't enjoy it so much if it was, right?

3. E is at her karate camp (where they do no karate, apparently) today, and D is spending the day with his BFF (at the other house, whew), so DH and I have the office and house to ourselves until later this afternoon. Of course, I already trail ran (and it was true running, since D was with me at that point) and hit the library (also with D). This is the epitome of a perfect summer Friday...

4. We're celebrating Father's Day for my dad this weekend. I think we're hiking in the late afternoon and then going out to eat in the mountains. Even with the heat expected, it won't be bad up there, and we usually only get up to that mountain cafe for Father's Day, so it's looking like a nice time. The rest of the weekend should be mostly relaxing -- yay!

5. So I did a stupid thing. I take thyroid supplements (natural, not synthetic), and I ran out about 2 weeks ago. Rather than picking up so more right away, I stupidly thought I should let my body breathe from them a while...well, it was a huge mistake. About three days into the 'breathing,' I started getting migraines. I think it's been 14 days (as of today) since I ran out, and even though I started taking them again on Monday, I've had 7 migraines, including two this week. *sigh* I'm sooooo hoping that my body will get back into the thyroid swing again -- the migraines haven't been horrible, but they've definitely pulled me down, tired me out, and made me pretty irritable (plus, it's hard for me to sleep when my head's aching). Today, I don't have one, and I'm hoping I'm seeing the light at the end of the migraine tunnel (to be horribly cliche). Another side effect of stopping the supplements: I gained about four pounds! I think I've learned my lesson, though, and let's hope the supplements can again get my thyroid back in shape.

Happy Friday -- any good books or nice plans in your future?

I lost about 20 pounds when I started on levothyroxine ... a miracle pill!

What would E do at a karate camp other than karate???

The mountain cafe sounds nice!

GK's leaving Sat AM ... dog is again welcome in the house ... ;o)

Oh, miracle pills are nice :)

Yes, we also wonder why there's no karate at a karate camp...sigh.

I didn't realize you had the GKs for a whole week -- that's a long time with little ones!

I am anticipating the release of a cozy mystery that is to be the first in a new "Hat Shop Mysteries" series.

Cozy mystery? Hat shop?!

The title of the book is Cloche and Dagger. Hah! Brilliant!

I love when they use clever titles -- how fun! :) (I used to read the Earlene Fowler quilting mysteries and the Diane Mott Davidson food mysteries.)

Oh no! Hope your migraines abate soon. How miserable :O(

I think you should definitely buy all of the books by way of making up for having to deal with the migraines!

Thankfully, they seem to have abated -- but yes, I like your thinking :)
