...it's still hot and humid. I'm hoping fall weather will hit soon -- and I'm especially hoping we don't hit winter without our fall first (like we skipped spring).

...D has outdoor lab next week. He's very excited, and I suspect he's going to have a great time. He has one of his best friends in with him (though not his bff), and most of the other boys in his cabin are kids he likes and enjoys. I'm excited that we have a week off from football practice (driving to and from). ;)

...E starts soccer on Sunday. It'll be interesting to see how it goes...she claims she 'loves' playing soccer, but playing for 10 minutes on recess is nothing like having to run for an hour!

...my classes officially start today. I think it will take me some time to get used to having to work every day again. Funny how quickly my brain settles into vacation and how hard it is to get it moving after. ;)

...I've started a new WIP. This one is from a male POV (my first attempt at that in full-length novel form), so I'm a little nervous. So far, I like the characters in my head, but I have no idea if I'm pulling off the voice at all. Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?

...I've also started a project. Once I see how far I get, I'll talk more about it. I'm a little nervous about it, as well.

Happy Thursday! :)

WOW - classes starting; new WIP with a male voice ; and a secret project! You just jumped into the deep end ... lol

E will get up to a full soccer game very quickly ... a great sport.

Sheesh ... wish I had an outdoor lab when I was in school!

Fall has arrived here ;op

Thursday: Sunshine giving way to some clouds and perhaps a gusty shower as a strong cold front barrels southward across New England. Highs in the lower 70s – but readings may actually drop a few degrees during the afternoon as winds flip to the north and much cooler air sags into the region.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy skies will become mostly cloudy overnight. Some showers may develop on parts of the Mid and Outer Cape overnight. Chilly. Temperatures falling back into the upper 40s to middle 50s – coolest on the Upper Cape.

Friday: Some clouds around in the morning, otherwise turning mostly sunny. Rather cool and Fall-like as temperatures hold in the 60s. Temperatures dipping into the 40s and 50s at night.

Saturday: Mostly sunny. A cool early morning – likely the chilliest since last spring with readings in the 40s in many areas – otherwise a nice day. Highs in the 70s.

Things that make you nervous to try often turn out well. Good luck! :)

I guess we'll see...uncharted territory, I think.

Wow, lows in the 40s? We haven't seen 40s for months...sigh.

I hope I don't drown ;)

Oh, I'm intrigued by your mystery project! :) Can you share whether it's writing-related?
Sep. 6th, 2013 12:54 am (UTC)
It's reading related -- and somewhat writing related too. ;)

BLACKOUT was my first time trying a male POV, and ppl connected with him more than the girl pov! You never know! :)

Well, you did a great job with your male POV...we'll see if I can even come close :)

Wow. Good luck with your WIP and new secret project! Writing from the male perspective is no different than writing from any POV that isn't close to your own. It's a matter of getting under the skin of the character and then letting him blab away!

That's great advice, Barb -- thank you! I'll see what I can do to put it into practice :)
