* I didn't make it beyond the first 20 pages.
** I made it to the end, but I either skimmed or skipped large sections.
*** I might have skipped/skimmed, but I liked it and will read it again.
**** I read at least 95% of the book and it was good.
***** I read every word, and I loved it!
The Shadow Club Rising, by Neal Shusterman ** I think boys might really like this. It was okay for me, and I did read the beginning and the end...but I didn't really connect with it.
Falling from Grace, by _____ Godwin (ack, I need to stop turning these in before I have the author's name!) ** I actually read all of this, but it was only okay for me. Set in Australia, if anyone's interested in Aussie books.
Cover of Night, by Linda Howard (this isn't a YA book, btw) ***** Yep, I loved this book! She's one of my favorite adult writers, and I had a great time with this one!
The King's Arrow, by Michael Cadnum ** I picked this up because I was in the mood for something historical, but this was too dense for me. Tons of history, however, if you like that in your books ;)
Blackthorn Winter, by Kathryn Reiss **+ I read most of this (skimmed the middle); I picked it up because it looked like a Mary Stewart in YA form. But it wasn't (at least not for me). It was okay, but I think it could have been shorter without losing anything.
General Winston's Daughter, by Sharon Shinn *** I forced my way through this one until it started picking up -- and the ending made up for a lot of the earlier slowness, imo, though I suspected something was awry ;)
The Adoration of Jenna Fox, by Mary Pearson **** I did like this, although the ending was too pat. I won't offer spoilers, but I will say that the unexpected turn for one of the characters didn't at all fit what I thought that character (allys) was trying to say and prove throughout the rest of the book. So it bothered me some. Other than that, it was a good book, though I never quite got what was up with Dane, either...anyone know?
One Foot in the Grave, by Jeaniene Frost ***** Great book! Fun from beginning to end, and I'm not a vampire fan ;) But I really like Cat and Bones, and I love all the interplay Jeaniene gives them. frost_light, if you're interested in checking out her blog.
