Book Reports...

For those of you who happened to Google your title and ended up here, please know that one star is not a bad thing in Robin's world -- just the fact the I picked up your book and started it means that somewhere it's getting good buzz (or that your blurb was really cool). 'R' means it's a re-read.

* I didn't make it beyond the first 20 pages.
** I made it to the end, but I either skimmed or skipped large sections.
*** I might have skipped/skimmed, but I liked it and will read it again.
**** I read at least 95% of the book and it was good.
***** I read every word, and I loved it!

After, by Francine Prose ***** This is totally my kind of book. Even though there was an aspect of the story which I found pretty unbelievable (the parents' brainwashing), the rest I loved enough to overlook that part :)

Take Me There, by Susane Colasanti ** This sounded interested, with alternating POVs, but for me, it didn't work -- mostly because the story builds and builds...and then ends, with little to no resolution (or at least, not enough for me).

Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac, by Gabrielle Zevin ***** I'm officially a Zevin fan :) I very much enjoyed this book, and even though I felt like the relationships weren't fleshed out (the emotional parts) as much as I'd have liked, it's still a great read, and definitely something I'll read again.

feed, by M.T. Anderson ** Well, I definitely skimmed this. Not my style at all -- if you like grit and a more nebulous attack at a subject, then you'd probably like this one. Of course, Anderson gets awards and wonderful reviews all over the place, so I know it's pretty much just me :)
