Book Reports (24-27)...

For those of you who happened to Google your title and ended up here, please know that one star is not a bad thing in Robin's world -- just the fact the I picked up your book and started it means that somewhere it's getting good buzz (or that your blurb was really cool). 'R' means it's a re-read.

* I didn't make it beyond the first 20 pages.
** I made it to the end, but I either skimmed or skipped large sections.
*** I might have skipped/skimmed, but I liked it and will read it again.
**** I read at least 95% of the book and it was good.
***** I read every word, and I loved it!

Fate, by Jennifer Lynn Barnes ***+ I liked this, but mythology isn't my favorite topic. However, like all of Jenn's books, this one is clever with an enjoyable heroine. I very much like the theme of friendship -- and for anyone out there who really loves mythology, you should definitely read this! (releases 3/09, YA)

Taken by Storm, by Angela Morrison **** I like the alternating POVs of this book. One of the MCs is a Mormon girl, and I felt the portrayal of faith was strong and well done (probably because Morrison is also a Mormon and knows what she's talking about). I like this love story; I think it's honest and real. (releases 3/09, YA)

The Forest of Hands and Teeth, by Carrie Ryan **** This was just as haunting as everyone said. Wow...the mood, the pacing, the ending -- well done! (releases 4/09; upper YA, imo)

Shadowed Summer, by Saundra Mitchell ***+ I thought this was a pretty good mystery. I didn't completely get the MC and her dad, but the story certainly kept me reading till the end -- good tension :) (releases 2/09, lower YA)
