* I didn't make it beyond the first 20 pages.
** I made it to the end, but I either skimmed or skipped large sections.
*** I might have skipped/skimmed, but I liked it and will read it again.
**** I read at least 95% of the book and it was good.
***** I read every word, and I loved it!
At Face Value, by Emily Franklin ***+ This is a fun re-telling of Cyrano de Bergerac. I liked Cyrie, the MC, and I loved the sweet romance between her and 'Rox' -- if you like re-tellings, or even if you just like this story (Cyrano), I think you'll enjoy this book.
Fragile Eternity, by Melissa Marr **** This is easily my favorite of the three. I LOVE Seth, and the complex characters and relationships in this were wonderfully done. Nothing is simple...just like real life, and for me, this book defines excellent story-telling with thoughful characters. (mid-upper YA, releases 5/09) melissa_writing
Hunger, by Michael Grant ***** I love this book! It's truly gripping -- I could hardly stand to put it down between readings. There's so much going on from beginning to end...and even though he resolves some of the problems, he leaves so many others open. So now I can't wait for the next one, either! (definitely upper YA -- graphic violence, and everyone in the book is 15 or less -- releases 6/09)
