He goes on to say that even though we think we're missing things, we aren't really. What we need is already within us, but we haven't recognized it yet; therefore, we're holding ourselves back.
I've tried this one before, and man, it's tough! I generally don't feel like anyone is withholding from me -- except for certain people here and there. And those are people I often don't want to be nice to ;) So to give to them what I want from them is hard for me. I guess I see my own selfishness when I try.
On the other hand, I've met people who seem to have some understanding (or have at least heard of) this idea -- and sometimes, their efforts are pretty transparent. I wonder when it goes from doing something to get something (which I imagine many of us can spot), to simply doing it because it's the right thing to do? Ironically, I think once we can give what we feel we lack to those we need it from -- truly give it, with no strings attached -- that's when we no longer feel the need for those things from that person...if that makes sense :)
What do you think? Do you feel lack from people in your lives, and do you think living like this would help?
