Book Reports (73-77)...

For those of you who happened to Google your title and ended up here, please know that one star is not a bad thing in Robin's world -- just the fact the I picked up your book and started it means that somewhere it's getting good buzz (or that your blurb was really cool). 'R' means it's a re-read.

* I didn't make it beyond the first 20 pages.
** I made it to the end, but I either skimmed or skipped large sections.
*** I might have skipped/skimmed, but I liked it and might read it again.
**** I read at least 95% of the book and it was good -- definitely will be reread.
***** I read every word, and I loved it! A favorite!

The Bermudez Triangle, by Maureen Johnson (R) **** This is my favorite MJ book. I love the friendships and how they change and grow -- how each girl must find her own way.

Sucks to be Me, by Kimberly Pauly ****+ I really enjoyed this book. It's an unique take on vampires -- just fun all the way through. The only reason it's not a five-star (in my own opinion) is because I didn't feel completely satisfied with the romantic resolution. She resolved it, but I wanted more on-the-page showing. However, it's possible that she wanted to keep this firmly in the tween range. (lower YA)

In the Company of Whispers, by Sallie Lowenstein ** There are some fascinating aspects to this book -- but it's a hefty one, and not only because of length (379 pages) -- it's simply complex and serious. (YA-adult crossover)

Faery Rebels: Spell Hunter, by RJ Anderson **** This is an enjoyable look at the life of a faery -- a feisty, stubborn faery, who refuses to believe that her life must be controlled as her leaders insist. I liked the relationship between Knife and Paul -- how they challenged each other and helped each other out of their selfish worlds. (lower YA, releases 5/09)

Lipstick Apology, by Jennifer Jabaley **** I liked the mystery here, and I liked the MC. It was rewarding to watch her come to grips with her new life. (YA, releases 8/09)
