Book Reports (7-10)...

For those of you who happened to Google your title and ended up here, please know that one star is not a bad thing in Robin's world -- just the fact the I picked up your book and started it means that somewhere it's getting good buzz (or that your blurb was really cool). 'R' means it's a re-read.

* I didn't make it beyond the first 20 pages.
** I made it to the end, but I either skimmed or skipped large sections.
*** I might have skipped/skimmed, but I liked it and will read it again.
**** I read at least 95% of the book and it was good.
***** I read every word, and I loved it!

The Year Nick McGowan Came to Stay, by Rebecca Sparrow ** Okay, but seemed very familiar -- although I liked the Australian setting and the MC.

Questors, by Joan Lennon ** Another okay for me. Definitely some original ideas on the whole 'quest' theme, which I liked; but as it's more MG than YA, it didn't hold my attention as well. However, if you like MG fantasy, I think you'll enjoy her take on this.

City of Bones, by Cassandra Clare **** I'd heard a lot about this book when it first came out (I guess CC was a fan fic writer) -- but I've never read any of her fanfic. I thought the book was definitely interesting, and I enjoyed the twists in the relationships, though I'm not convinced anything will stick (in terms of the way the relationships are now) ;) I'll pick up the next one, for sure.

At Grave's End, by Jeaniene Frost frost_light ***** (Adult book, btw -- graphic in a number of ways) Yeah, this is awesome! I love Jeaniene's books, and this one is my favorite so far :D I read it while exercising, and I was so engrossed (the plot, the characters, the relationships, the world-building -- everything) that I kept on going even after the machine stopped recording ;) If you like anything urban fantasy or even just strong heroines and wonderful relationships, this is for you!
