re: Book Reports (65-69)...

For those of you who happened to Google your title and ended up here, please know that one star is not a bad thing in Robin's world -- just the fact the I picked up your book and started it means that somewhere it's getting good buzz (or that your blurb was really cool). 'R' means it's a re-read.

* I didn't make it beyond the first 20 pages.
** I made it to the end, but I either skimmed or skipped large sections.
*** I might have skipped/skimmed, but I liked it and might read it again.
**** I read at least 95% of the book and it was good -- definitely will be reread.
***** I read every word, and I loved it! A favorite!

The Season, by Sarah MacLean ***** I LOVED this! As far as pure enjoyment goes, this is one of the best I've read in a long time. If you want a wonderful review, check out kellyrfineman's LJ for Thursday. I can't wait for the next one to come out! (YA historical FUN romance and mystery)

The Waters and the Wild, by Francesca Lia Block ***+ This was different...I like how it's different from the typical urban fantasy, but it was a little strange in places. However, the ending fit the book nicely, imo. If you're interesting in changeling books, this is a unique look at it! (YA urban fantasy, releases 6/09)

Betraying Season, by Marissa Doyle ***+ I like how Marissa weaves in the magical lore (from Ireland, this time). I wasn't as sold on the romance between Pen and Niall as I was between Persy and Lochinvar, but it was still good. If you liked the first one, I think you'll like this one too. (YA historical fantasy, 6/09)

Never Cry Werewolf, by Heather Davis ***+ This was a fun look at werewolves -- a different take on it, I'd say. I liked the MC's spunk and the light-hearted feel to a typically dark topic. (YA urban fantasy, 6/09)

The Diamonds, by Ted Michael *** I haven't read any Gossip Girl books (I know, I should -- just to get a feel for that niche), but I'm guessing this is along those lines. I liked the unique set-up (where the power girls had their own court system for the school), even though it seemed pretty far-fetched. And I liked how the MC bucked the system (once forced to) and discovered a few things. (YA, releases 4/09)
