Weekend Roundup...

...DH had a mountain campout with his friends (it's an annual event), and left Friday evening. We spent the day on a paddle boat in Evergreen -- which ended up being a lot more work than we'd planned. My mom came with us (thankfully), and she and I were the only ones who could reach the pedals. Plus, the rudder wasn't working very well, so we mostly went in circles -- until D figured out he could hold the rudder from the back while we tried to steer from the front...which simply made for a bunch of sore muscles! Still, it was an interesting experience and a beautiful day.

...Saturday, my mom called mid-morning and asked if she could take the kiddos for the rest of the day and overnight -- um, YES! :) We had a long and lovely conversation about everything first (we do that about every two months, and I always enjoy it), and then I dropped the kiddos off...and just stayed home and relaxed for the rest of the day. :) Yep, twice in one summer -- what a gift!

...yesterday, I went to my parents for brunch and picked up the kiddos. It was a relaxing time (as my brother and his kiddos weren't there -- I guess there's been some tension between my dad and the grandkids, since my brother doesn't discipline his kids as stringently as my dad would like...and both kids are allowed to act up in ways my dad would never allow -- nor would I, in all honesty). When we got home, we just relaxed. E watched the rest of Anne of Green Gables -- her first time seeing it (it's always fun to share things like that with the kiddos), and D watched HP & the Deathly Hallows Pt 2.

...when DH got home, we hung out and watched the Olympics -- it was really a nice, peaceful weekend.

Today, I had school duties (sigh), but they went faster than the same duties last year, so that was good. I've paid fees now ($300 in bus fees alone!), and we're ready to go, sob. Two weeks from today is the first day of school, and I don't think any of us are truly ready.

Happy Monday!
