Tolle Tuesday...

Knowing yourself goes far deeper than the adoption of a set of ideas or beliefs...Knowing yourself is to be rooted in Being, instead of lost in your mind.

This is an interesting concept to me. Honestly, there are a few people in my life that I'd struggle to separate from their beliefs (such as my aunt, who's quite zealous). Her daughter, my cousin (obviously, ha), is also very zealous (and very conventional in her beliefs). Because of my background, I kind of feel like both of them are limiting themselves -- their beliefs are quite narrow (especially my cousin's). But who knows?

I think, for me, it comes back to we are what we do, not what we say (or think). That makes it somewhat easier for me to understand others than myself, because when I act in various situations, I can hear my thoughts and motivations (usually). With others, all I see are the with my cousin, she seems rigid, confined, fearful of things outside her tiny belief-system box. But with myself? Not nearly as easy to understand....
