Book Reports (110-113)...

For those of you who happened to Google your title and ended up here, please know that one star is not a bad thing in Robin's world -- just the fact the I picked up your book and started it means that somewhere it's getting good buzz (or that your blurb was really cool). 'R' means it's a re-read. Different colored font means it's an ARC for 2010 (and I'll try to remember to put the month it's released, as well). I'm linking to Tattered Cover's pages for the ARCs.

* I didn't make it beyond the first 20 pages.
** I made it to the end, but I either skimmed or skipped large sections.
*** I might have skipped/skimmed, but I liked it and might read it again.
**** I read at least 95% of the book and it was good -- definitely will be reread.
***** I read every word, and I loved it! A favorite.

First Test, by Tamora Pierce ***** R I'm loving my journey through these books again -- it's like coming home, in some ways, to immerse myself in Keladry's world. The story: Kel decides she wants to be a page, even though Lord Wyldon wants her to have a probationary year. (lower YA/tween fantasy, publisher: Random House)

Page, by Tamora Pierce *****R The story: Kel continues to face challenges because of her gender -- but her dedication to protecting those who have little to no voice continues. (lower YA/tween fantasy, publisher: Random House)

Squire, by Tamora Pierce ***** R The story: Kel learns skills she desperately hopes she can use someday in service of the Realm as she Squires for Lord Raoul of the King's Own. (YA fantasy, publisher: Random House)

You Wish, by Mandy Hubbard ***+ This is a very cute story with hidden depths and a likable MC (along with a sweet love story). The story: When Kayla makes a 16th birthday wish that her birthday wishes would come true, she wakes up the next morning to find that they are -- but they're coming true right now, rather than when she wished them years before. (YA contemporary, just released, publisher: Razorbill)

Currently Reading: Lady Knight, by Tamora Pierce
On Deck: The Replacement, The Ghosts of Ashbury High, The Confessions of the Sullivan Sisters, Sabotaged...and about twenty more
