Book Reports (31-34)...

For those of you who happened to Google your title and ended up here, please know that one star is not a bad thing in Robin's world -- just the fact that I picked up your book and started it means that somewhere it's getting good buzz (or that your blurb was really cool).

If you'd like to see my recent four+- and five-star YA recommendations, visit Robin ReadsnWrites.

* I didn't make it beyond the first 20 pages.
** I made it to the end, but I either skimmed or skipped large sections.
*** I might have skipped/skimmed, but I liked it and might read it again.
**** I read at least 95% of the book and it was good -- probably will be reread.
***** I read every word, and I loved it! A favorite and definite reread.

This year, I'm only going to list the stars and a brief recommendation for the type of readers I think will enjoy the book [(R) means it's a re-read; [] means it's an ARC].

Site Meter

Twisted Fate, by Norah Olson -- recommended for those who enjoy unreliable narrators, those who don't mind many POVs (5+), and those who like twists and turns that aren't always supported by the text in the story -- Katherine Tegan Books, 1/15

[Served Hot, by Annabeth Albert -- recommended for those who enjoy hurt/comfort stories, those who like male-male romance (adult), and those who like self-image reflections -- Kindle, 3/15]

[The Hurt Patrol, by Mary McKinley -- recommended for those who like teen angst and triumph over bullies, LGBTQIA issues, and loose-timeline narrative -- Kensington Books, 3/15]

Rebel Belle, by Rachel Hawkins -- highly recommended for those who enjoy mythical tales merged with contemporary characters, a bit of paranormal, sweet romance, and butt-kicking heroines -- Putnam BFYR, 8/13

Currently Reading: another e-galley, amongst others

On Deck: a whole bunch of good stuff -- you can tell when I get stressed (with the busy-ness of life), as I suddenly start reading everything I can get my hands on...
