So close and spooky...

I think I'm within 7K or so of the end. I'm posting my meter here, but I might do some more writing after a short break. I read the pep talk from Neil Gaiman, and I like his description of the ending slide, where the words just tumble out -- wow, moments like this I *love* being a writer! :) My books almost always start out (after the first draft) around 40K, so I'm definitely close...then the truly fun part begins.

I've said it before, I think, but you know, it's always fun to repeat :) The first draft is like getting the paint on the canvas -- the colors are there, the basic shapes. Revision is like specifying the hues, tightening up the focus, making the painting sing. Ahhhh.

Of course, before I can do that, I will let it sit a bit. And I'll try to finish up the other WIP too, sigh. I never know if that's the way to go -- any thoughts there?

Do you:

1) Stick with the ms that's calling to you the loudest?
2) Try to complete the one that needs completing despite what you're really interested in?

And this is just a little too close for comfort ;)
