Apparently temps are so low where my MIL lives that she can't leave her home overnight because they need to keep the pipes from freezing and bursting -- bummer! There's this strange cold front which is hitting along the western side of the Continental Divide (along the Rocky Mtns) -- of course, it's supposed to be cold here this weekend too, but still about ten degrees higher than they're experiencing. Weather is a funny phenomenon, isn't it?

All my students (excepting one class) are working on research papers this session -- and it's meant a TON of e-mailing back and forth for me. I've spent close to three hours each yesterday and today just dealing with the e-mailed questions, comments, pleas for help, topic suggestions, etc. It's crazy!

The kiddos go back to school tomorrow, and they're not thrilled. None of us are (we love sleeping in), but at the same time, it'll be good to get back to a routine again. I don't go in to help until next week, so I'll have three whole days to myself (what to do, what to do?).

Yoga was wonderful and painful this morning. It's my first class in three weeks, and man-oh-man, my shoulders and upper back are feeling it. The good news is that my hips seem to be in good shape...but oh, my shoulders are so weak!

I love texting -- DH knew that might be an issue when we upgraded our phones, and he was right. :) I may never call anyone again...just saying (don't worry -- no texting and driving!).

One week till DH turns the big 4-5. Since his mom has decided she can't do the surprise party thing, I mentioned it to him (for future reference), and he's NOT interested. He'd like a party somewhere else, but I think the thought of all those people in our own home stresses him out (I know it does me).

Hope it's been a good Tuesday for you -- any random thoughts to share?

...hopefully yoga won't be cancelled today -- I think my body needs it!

...they're predicting a chance of SNOW on Thursday -- but it's supposed to be 80 degrees today.

...the purple ash are beginning to show off their splendor :D (You can guess that I'll be taking pix.)

...we have a nice breeze today, blowing away the smoke.

Enjoy the fall beauty!

Five on Friday...

1. Our electricity went out last evening/night for four hours! We're lucky we have a gas stove, so we could cook anyway...but it was a very cloudy night (had nothing to do with the power outage, which sounded like it was planned -- though no one told us, of course), and we were all reading in the dark with our flashlights before it was over.

2. Today is the first day off of school -- flex testing day. It felt good to lay in bed this morning, but then I got up for yoga.

3. Yoga was awesome today!!

4. I feel like my engine is still warming up. It's hard to get back into school mode after the freedom of summer.

5. The heat just keeps on coming -- but at least we're not dealing with hurricanes (stay safe, to all of you on the east coast)!

Happy last weekend (ack) in August!

Five on Friday...

1. We are finally working on our bathroom. I mentioned months ago (it's been nine months, I think) that we were having mold issues -- well, this week, the work began. Right now, we have the new drywall (with some kind of special stuff -- cement?) in place. Now the tiling fun begins :) And all the mold is out of the house!

2. It's been a rainy week here -- today's the first day we've seen sunshine and blue sky for a few days. Of course, it was so warm last weekend that we can't really complain...

3. School is winding down, which means things are busier than ever. On top of all that, I'm trying to get some things in place for the beginning of next year. It's no wonder that when summer break finally arrives, I can't quite contemplate putting the kids in any activities -- it's just too much!

4. I'm so glad I have yoga this morning.

5. I'm also going to head over to B&N and do some writing -- yay!

Happy weekend!

Five on Friday...

1. I've reached the uber-busy week of my work. Yesterday, the students didn't get their papers in until late in the day, so I was CRABBY for dinner.

2. I've bookmarked a barometric reading for our town. I'm tired of being blind-sided by D's moods (um, especially when I'm in a mood myself -- see #1).

3. We have a new yoga instructor at the gym, and I love her! Before, I always felt really good after class, but now, I actually want to be IN class. I love the way she moves through the various positions; I love how she moves around the room and helps us; and I love the way my body feels during and after.

4. The kids have no school today (or yesterday) because of testing (ick). DH agreed to take them with him this morning (so I could go to yoga), and now I'm so enjoying the peace and quiet.

5. It's really windy here today...yes, again. I love the sunshine and the blue, blue sky -- but I must admit the wind is wearing. Still, I'd rather have a sunny and windy day than a cloudy and windy day :)

Happy last weekend in April (that can't be possible...can it?)
